Description
Puligny is one of those great Burgundy terroirs that provide some of the best white wines in the world! With Chassagne-Montrachet to the south and Meursault to the north, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, the terroirs of Puligny are also of exceptional quality, they also generate red wines but which are rare or even confidential (5% of production ). Seventeen climates have been classified as “premier cru” and four grands crus are present in the commune of Puligny (Bâtard-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Bienvenues-bâtard-Montrachet and Montrachet (Criots-bâtard is in the commune of Chassagne)). The most renowned first white and red crus are present on the top of the hills on brown limestone soils, between 250 and 300 meters above sea level. On these soils the Chardonnay offers the best of itself, the results which it gives are incomparable, one can say that it is here the ground of predilection of noble vine. The best known are: Les Folatières, Les Pucelles, Les Demoiselles, Les Combettes, Clavaillon, Champ Canet, Champ Gain, Le Cailleret, Les Referts...
