2022 at the Domain Simon Colin

Domaine Simon Colin's vision for the 2022 vintage

The 2022 vintage from Domaine Simon Colin embodies the excellence and finesse of Chassagne-Montrachet wines. The year began with a mild, dry winter, promising a good start to the coming season.

From mid-April onwards, spring set in generously, offering abundant sunshine and mild temperatures, conducive to optimal vine growth. This ruled out any risk of late frost. With early flowering, the vines enjoyed an average lead of two weeks, heralding promising prospects.

Despite some challenges, notably a crucial lack of water during the hot summer, Chassagne-Montrachet avoided the vagaries of the weather, with no late frosts or hail. Although the harvest began in September in a summer marked by high temperatures, the grapes were harvested at perfect ripeness.

The 2022 vintage represented a challenge for the winegrowers, requiring particular vigilance at harvest time to preserve the acidity that is essential for balanced wines. However, the result is remarkable: a perfect balance between acidity and maturity.

The estate's red wines show exemplary maturity and near-perfect balance. They can be enjoyed young, while offering undeniable ageing potential.

As for the white wines, they stand out for their sunny character, richness and magnificent acidity, giving them exquisite tension on the palate.

For Simon Colin, the 2022 vintage is similar to the great successes of 2017 and 2019. It's one of the finest years yet, a testament to the expertise and passion that drive Simon Colin.
