A vintage of resilience, characterised by low yields and great precision
The 2024 vintage at Domaine Thomas Collardot will go down as one of the most challenging in recent years in Burgundy. Marked by particularly unsettled weather and high disease pressure, the growing season demanded constant vigilance in the vineyard. Despite significant crop losses, the estate has produced wines of remarkable precision, in which freshness, tension and balance perfectly illustrate the expertise of Jacqueline and Matthieu Collardot.
A year marked by severe disease pressure
Throughout the season, weather conditions favoured the development of fungal diseases, putting the vines under severe strain. This disease pressure had a significant impact on yields, particularly in the Burgundy appellations, where volumes fell by 50 to 70 per cent.
The Puligny-Montrachet plots also saw a significant drop in production, whilst the Premiers Crus held up better and delivered more satisfactory yields.
Faced with this challenging year, Jacqueline and Matthieu Collardot chose to delay the harvest in order to obtain perfectly ripe grapes, capable of preserving the wines’ natural balance and achieving the desired alcohol levels.

Winemaking guided by precision
The low harvest volumes led the estate to adapt its winemaking practices. Certain cuvées, notably the Burgundy wines ‘Petit Poirier’ and ‘Plantes de Champs’, were blended due to insufficient harvest yields, whereas they would have been vinified separately in a more bountiful vintage.
However, this adjustment has never compromised quality. Thanks to meticulous winemaking and a rigorous selection of grapes, the wines faithfully express their terroirs. Indeed, the entire 2024 vintage has been bottled in its entirety, demonstrating the estate’s confidence in the quality of the wines produced.
The 2024 vintage also sees the introduction of a new appellation to the estate’s range, with a Meursault Village available through the wine merchants in 2024 but set to become an integral part of the estate’s portfolio in 2025. This cuvée enriches the estate’s offering whilst maintaining the high standards of quality and precision that characterise all its wines.

Despite the difficulties encountered in the vineyard, Domaine Thomas Collardot’s 2024 wines captivate with their purity, integrity and great aromatic precision. The Chardonnays display lovely tension, elegant minerality and a freshness that lends them great vitality. On the palate, the balance is remarkable, underpinned by a precise structure and long, briny and particularly refined finishes.
This vintage perfectly illustrates the estate’s ability to transform a difficult year into a collection of authentic wines, where quality takes precedence over quantity. The low yields will make these wines particularly sought-after by connoisseurs of great Burgundy whites.
