2023 at the Domain Coffinet-Duvernay
Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay's vision for the 2023 vintage
Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay unveils a 2023 vintage that promises to be a real treat for lovers of great Burgundy wines. The year 2023 was marked by a variety of weather conditions, requiring constant vigilance, but ultimately producing grapes of exceptional quality.
The winter of 2023, which was dry and within the norm, gave way to an early spring accompanied by some light rainfall. There was a scare on 15 April, when a light frost threatened the young buds already in flower. Thanks to the estate's prudence, frost plugs were installed in the vines, but fortunately they were not necessary.
As spring progressed, the vines grew rapidly under generous sunshine and regular rainfall, favouring optimal development. Despite a high level of powdery mildew, the fine weather kept this dreaded fungus at bay, guaranteeing healthy vines.
The summer brought two weeks of heatwave, but regular rainfall in August prevented any water stress, unlike the previous year. A slight hail storm hit the lower parts of Chassagne-Montrachet, fortunately causing little damage.

The harvest began on 3 September, in intense heat. To preserve the freshness of the grapes, the teams worked at first light, starting with the prestigious Dents de Chiens and Bâtard-Montrachet plots. After a short break, harvesting resumed on 6 September, ensuring an optimal crop.
Although the 2023 vintage shares a common base with 2022, it is distinguished by its remarkable structure and depth. It combines aromatic richness and brilliant freshness, underpinned by an acid balance that is even more harmonious than that of the previous year. This vintage promises to be a great success for laying down, offering elegant, complex wines capable of sublimating the unique terroir of Chassagne-Montrachet.
Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay has once again confirmed its expertise by revealing an exceptional vintage, ready to delight lovers of authentic, refined wines.
