Mondavi Rothschild

Opus One was created in 1978 by Baron Philippe de Rothschild, legendary owner of Château Mouton Rothschild and by famous Napa Valley winegrower Robert Mondavi. By marrying the wine traditions and innovations of the two families, the partners' goal was to create an exceptional wine. Opus One seduces the whole world and deserves the rank of "Grand Cru Classé of California". It has 55 hectares of vines, planted with Bordeaux grape varieties. In 1991 Baroness Philippine de Rothschild inaugurated the new winery, an architectural gem of Napa Valley. In 2004, Constellation Brands, Inc. acquired Robert Mondavi Winery and maintained its association with Baron Philippe de Rothschild to maintain a 50-50 association. Affirming its independence and achieving a perfect balance between the two partners, the sole intention of Opus One is to continue the vision and passion of its founders for future generations.
