Domaine Didier Dagueneau

The Didier Dagueneau estate, founded in 1982 and internationally renowned for its great Sauvignons, did not have an easy start, however, with the public not adhering to the owner's non-traditional winemaking methods, essentially based on intuition. . By dint of determination, the latter ended up convincing amateurs and professionals of the value of his practices. The secret of this success resides above all in the incredibly conscientious character of the man, and in his ability to remain “attuned to the wine” throughout the vinification and then maturing phase. The work of the vine in reasoned fight, the practice of disbudding to control the yields, the entirely manual harvest and the draconian sorting of the grapes also contribute very largely to the success of the domain, without forgetting a first-rate technical team. In the winery, vinification is done with yeasts selected from the estate's vineyards, aging on lees is long and is completed by aging in precise barrels and in large volumes. Since the accidental death of Didier Dagueneau in 2008, his son Benjamin has taken over brilliantly. In January 2016, Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau was even elected "Winegrower of the Year" by La Revue du vin de France.
