One of the most beautiful signatures of Bordeaux, Château Cheval-Blanc remains with each new classification in the elite of Saint-Emilion wines. Its strength undoubtedly resides in its extraordinary terroir where Merlot and Cabernet Franc express themselves wonderfully. Their proportion can vary according to the vintage even if the Merlot is generally present in greater quantity. It brings the sensation of maturity and greed when the carbernet franc, for its part, structures the wine. Its color is deep, of an intense ruby. On the nose, it is an explosion of floral notes but also of violet and blackcurrant. This fruit is found in the mouth amid powerful tannins. Cheval Blanc is one of the most concentrated Saint-Emilions.

Description

Until 1835, the Cheval Blanc vineyard was an integral part of the Figeac estate. Ceded in two stages, during the 19th century, to the owners of Château l'Evangile, the Fourcaud-Lussac family, the estate was created as such and extended by his descendants who would remain owners until the end of the 20th century. ° century. In 1998, the Albert Frère - Bernard Arnault tandem bought the shares of Société Civile du Cheval Blanc, but the continuity remained, in the person of the Director, Pierre Lurton and his team. In 2009, the LVMH group bought back 50% of the shares in Bernard Arnault's personal holding company.

Since 2011, winemaking has taken place in the new cellar designed by architect Christian de Portzamparc; a vast, bright and ecological space that Pierre Lurton dreamed of. Cheval Blanc was confirmed as Premier Grand Cru Classé A in the 2012 classification, and thanks to the annexation of the neighboring Château Tour du Pin, 1.40 ha have been added to its land base. With a very specific terroir, the vineyard is located on the edge of Pomerol. The grape variety is atypical for the Saint-Emilion region, with a proportion of Cabernet Franc greater than that of Merlot. Despite a slight decline in quality in the 1960s and 1970s, Château Cheval Blanc remains, unbeatable since 1954, on the highest step in the classification of Saint-Emilion wines, at the rank of 1er Cru Classé A. The estate also produces alongside the great wine, a second wine, Petit Cheval. It brings the sensation of maturity and greed when Cabernet Franc structures the wine. Its color is deep, of an intense ruby. On the nose, it is an explosion of floral notes but also of violet and blackcurrant. This fruit is found in the mouth amid powerful tannins. Cheval Blanc is one of the most concentrated Saint-Emilions, it requires between 15 and 25 years of aging to fully deliver. It has this special grace, a perfect balance and a touch of the mouth that brings it closer to its great neighbors of Pomerols. A wine of anthology.
