Château Montrose, the Second Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Estèphe, embodies the excellence of the Médoc. From a terroir sculpted by the Gironde and vinified with extreme precision, this wine reveals power, elegance and depth. Dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, it stands out for its structure, aromatic complexity and exceptional ageing potential. A must among the great wines of Bordeaux.
Situated on a hill once covered in heather - the ‘Mont Rose’ - from which it takes its name, Château Montrose is a benchmark among the Second Grands Crus Classés of 1855. Its single vineyard, ideally exposed to the Gironde estuary, benefits from a temperate microclimate, conducive to optimal ripening of the grapes. The estate's Grand Vin is made from the best plots on the legendary Terrasse 4, the birthplace of Cabernet Sauvignon, and rests on gravelly and clay-limestone soils.
Château Montrose is vinified in micro-parcels with gentle extractions and aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (60% new wood), expressing all the nobility of its terroir. Its dark colour precedes an intense bouquet of black fruits, spices and graphite. On the palate, density and elegance come together in a racy, harmonious tannic structure. A wine built to last the decades, a symbol of know-how geared to lasting excellence.
