2023 at the Pierrick Bouley estate

Domaine Pierrick Bouley's vision for the 2023 vintage

The 2023 vintage from the Pierrick Bouley estate promises to be an exceptional year, marked by contrasting but beneficial weather conditions for the vines. During the winter, the vines were taken down between 15 December and 9 February. This practice, which is essential for preparing the vines, enables the pruned shoots to be removed and the trellising wires to be cleaned, thereby promoting better spring growth and preventing disease.

The year got off to a very dry start in January and February. Fortunately, welcome rainfall in early March enabled the vines to replenish their water reserves. Spring came early, with almond trees in flower from the end of February. Pruning of the vines took place from 12 February to 7 April, with final pruning in March and April to ensure optimum distribution of the bunches.

The end of May was marked by hot, dry conditions, while flowering began in early June. The fruit set, which took place in mid-June, benefited from further beneficial rainfall, which supported the growth and development of the fruit. A heat spike in mid-July accelerated veraison, which took hold in all the plots from the end of July.

The Pierrick Bouley estate is continuing its commitment to environmentally-friendly viticulture, with only six organic treatments carried out throughout the year. Two ploughings and four mowings also helped to keep the soil alive and healthy. Two lifting operations, carried out in the first and third weeks of June, were followed by two braiding operations at the beginning of July, to reinforce the vigour and regularity of the growth.

The harvest, which took place from 11 to 23 September, benefited from optimal conditions. The grapes were impeccably healthy, with an average yield of 25 hectolitres per hectare. The 2023 vintage is distinguished by wines of great aromatic purity, freshness and a promising structure for laying down. This year confirms the rigour and expertise of the Pierrick Bouley estate, offering authentic cuvées that perfectly reflect the typicity of Burgundy's terroirs.
