Domaine Pierre Amiot et Fils

Domaine Pierre Amiot et Fils, founded in 1951, is a small family estate located in the village of Morey-Saint-Denis in the Côte-de-Nuits. It is currently operated by Jean-Louis and Didier who are the fifth generation of the family at the head of the estate. The vineyard extends over 8 hectares of vines divided between 40 plots located in the municipalities of Morey-Saint-Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin. In total, the estate vinifies 2 regional appellations, 3 villages, 5 premier crus and 2 grands crus.

From the 2020 vintage, the estate has been reorganized to create two new estates, "Didier Amiot" and "Amiot & Fils" which is composed of Jean-Louis and his father, Pierre Amiot.

The estate does not have certification but uses reasoned and environmentally friendly cultural practices and the principles of sustainable viticulture. No chemical weedkillers, soil fertilization by compost, limited treatments, …

Regarding the vinification, the grapes are harvested by hand before being destemmed between 70 to 100% depending on the year, the extraction is slow and gentle by cold maceration and the fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts. Aging takes place between 15 and 18 months in oak barrels. (30% new barrels for the 1er crus and 50% new barrels for the grands crus.)
