Château Pavie

Originally used for peach cultivation until antiquity, the Chateau Pavie estate is now renowned worldwide for its wine production. It is quite natural that the name of the variety of the Pavie peach once cultivated on these lands was passed on to the winery about 1500 years later. The merchant Ferdinand Bouffard began to buy up the plots of land around the winery in 1873. These parcels were then owned by other families such as Fayard, Fayard-Talmont, Chapus, de Croisit and Pigasse. Following this purchase, the vineyard grew to about 50 hectares. However, the owner Ferdinand Bouffard cultivates each parcel independently and sells the wines separately.

It was Ferdinand Bouffard's successor, Albert Porte, who brought the different parcels together under the name of Château Pavie and allowed the estate to rank among the best wines of Bordeaux. The Valette family bought the estate in 1943. In 1955, Château Pavie was classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé B of Saint-Emilion and it was not until 2012 that the estate was classified as "A".  Since the acquisition of the estate by Gerard Perse in 1997, the Bordeaux winery has experienced a great expansion and growing success. He has implemented technical improvements to the quality of the wines such as very low yields, high grape maturity and luxurious aging. This expansion has resulted in an expansion of the winery and cellar as well as the construction of a magnificent 600 m2 Versailles-style reception hall that was inaugurated in 2013. The property seeks to produce exceptional wines that are complex and elegant.
