Domaine Dureuil-Janthial's Rully 1er Cru ‘Chapitre’ is a prestigious red wine that reflects Burgundy's expertise and the excellence of the Rully terroir. This 1er Cru comes from the ‘Chapitre’ vineyard, a historic parcel located in the centre of the appellation, facing east and benefiting from optimum sunshine. The Pinot Noir vines, planted in 1958, thrive on clay soil rich in iron oxide, giving the wine its distinctive character and depth.
Vinification is carried out with particular care: hand-picking is followed by rigorous sorting on two tables, guaranteeing a selection of grapes of the highest quality. Depending on the vintage, the grapes are destemmed or not, then placed in truncated wooden vats for a week's cold maceration. Fermentation is carried out with appropriate punching down and pumping over, depending on daily tastings. The wine is matured in 19th-century cellars for 12 months in casks (33% of which are new), followed by 6 months in stainless steel vats, with bottling following the lunar calendar.
On tasting, Rully ‘Chapitre’ has a concentrated colour and complex aromas of sweet cherries, blackcurrants and plums, with hints of forest floor and toasted oak. The palate is full, juicy and silky, with fine tannins and a slightly chalky finish that adds a lovely freshness. This elegant, well-balanced wine has excellent ageing potential, promising to develop harmoniously over several years.
