Description

Entirely organically cultivated, the Château de Beaucastel vineyard produces one of the best Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the appellation. The creation of the vineyard dates from the 16th century: in 1549 Pierre de Beaucastel acquired land in Coudoulet. The family will mark with their coat of arms the walls of the property built some time later, engraved today on the bottles and reproduced on the labels. Few of them reach such heights of perfection, especially over time. Over the generations, the same success has emerged and the know-how is passed on admirably.

Today, Jean-Pierre and François, the sons of Jacques Perrin, and their respective children who represent the fifth generation, have taken up the torch.

The vines cover 130 hectares of which only 100 are cultivated, and are planted with 13 authorized grape varieties. Controlled yields, "homemade" compost instead of chemical fertilizers, organic work (this was the first domain in the Rhône valley to convert in 1950 and to biodynamics in 1974) are the secrets of working in the vines

As for the vinification, the destemmed grapes are then vinified in vats and aged in oak casks for a year. All the grape varieties are vatted separately, in order to respect the character, the aromas, and the originality of each one. The wines are bottled for an additional year at the estate before being marketed. For 15 years, the Perrins have developed in parallel by acquiring their own vines in other appellations with the ambition of becoming a specialist in the south of the Rhône valley. Made only in great vintages, the Hommage à Jacques Perrin cuvée from Château de Beaucastel is produced from very old Mourvèdre vines, producing small quantities of intensely ripe and concentrated fruit. Château de Beaucastel

Château de Beaucastel is one of the great names of the Rhône Valley. The Perrin family has given its letters of nobility to the Châteauneuf-du-pape and Côtes-du-rhône appellations. They are one of the few estates to blend the 13 grape varieties of the Châteauneuf-du-pape appellation to produce their red wine.
