Domaine Pierre Girardin's Chassagne-Montrachet is a white Burgundy wine made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. This wine is distinguished by its brilliant golden colour, revealing complex aromas of white-fleshed fruit, delicate flowers and a subtle mineral touch. On the palate, it is beautifully round, balanced by lively acidity, with a lingering finish marked by notes of hazelnut and toast.
The estate's Chassagne-Montrachet is made from Chardonnay vines planted on clay-limestone soils typical of the appellation. The grapes are harvested by hand to preserve their integrity and optimum quality. After controlled fermentation, the wine is matured for around 12 months in oak barrels, including a moderate proportion of new barrels, bringing complexity and finesse without overpowering the character of the fruit.
On tasting, this Chassagne-Montrachet reveals a rich, elegant palette of aromas. The nose is marked by notes of green apple, juicy pear, white flowers such as acacia, and a slight mineral touch reminiscent of flint. On the palate, the attack is fresh and lively, developing into a full, silky texture. The balance between acidity and roundness gives the wine remarkable harmony. The finish is long and persistent, with hints of toasted hazelnut and a delicate buttery note.
This Chassagne-Montrachet from Domaine Pierre Girardin is a gastronomic wine par excellence. It goes perfectly with refined dishes such as fillet of turbot with hollandaise sauce, pan-fried scallops, or Bresse poultry with cream and morel mushrooms. It can also enhance soft cheeses with a bloomy rind, such as a mature Brie de Meaux. To fully appreciate its qualities, we recommend serving it between 12 and 14°C. This wine has an ageing potential of 5 to 10 years, allowing connoisseurs to enjoy it at maturity and appreciate its aromatic development.
