Domaine Nikolaihof
The Nikolaihof estate, nestling in the Wachau valley, is Austria's oldest winegrowing estate, with origins dating back to Roman times. Since the end of the 19th century, the Saahs family have looked after this historic site, cultivating their vines using biodynamic practices since 1971. Grüner Veltliner and Riesling find ideal conditions here, thanks to a unique terroir combining granite, gneiss and loess.
Nikolaihof wines, vinified naturally, are aged for several years on fine lees in old tuns, sometimes for decades. This patience gives the vintages unequalled depth and energy. Each bottle tells the story of an exceptional terroir and ancestral know-how, making Nikolaihof a benchmark for the great white wines of the Wachau.
