Domaine Saint-Jacques

Nestling in the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, Domaine Saint-Jacques covers 9.5 hectares of vines, mainly in the Rully 1er Cru appellation. Acquired in 1955 by Christophe-Amédée Grandmougin, the estate is now run by his son, Christophe-Jean, continuing a family tradition. The vines, which are an average of 40 years old, are cultivated using integrated farming methods, with mechanical weeding and fertilisation using compost made from organically-farmed bovine manure. Yields are controlled by early de-budding and green harvesting, while manual leaf thinning optimises grape ripening. Hand-picking and traditional vinification, adapted to each vintage, guarantee wines that reflect the unique terroir of Rully. The red wines are matured in oak barrels for around 12 months, renewed every three years, while the whites are partially matured in oak barrels. The estate produces renowned vintages such as Rully 1er Cru ‘Marissou’ and ‘La Fosse’, in white and red, as well as Bourgogne Aligoté. The 13thᵉ century Romanesque cellars and the traditional 18thᵉ century winery, with their old wine presses, bear witness to the rich history of the estate, which once served as a stopover for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela.
