Description

Domaine Lucien Muzard's Bourgogne Pinot Noir perfectly reflects the authenticity and elegance of Burgundy wines. This cuvée comes from vines planted on two distinct terroirs: the commune of Santenay, at the foot of the Maranges hillside, and a parcel near Chassagne-Montrachet. These clay-marno-limestone soils bring a lovely freshness and subtle minerality to this Pinot Noir.

The work in the vineyard is meticulous and respectful of the environment. The soils are ploughed, and the vines receive meticulous attention: disbudding, lifting, leaf thinning and aeration. Harvesting is done by hand to preserve the integrity of the berries.

Vinification follows traditional, low-intervention methods. Most of the grapes are de-stemmed and never crushed, with around 30% of the grapes harvested whole to preserve their structure. Alcoholic fermentation, using indigenous yeasts, is accompanied by light punching down to gently extract aromas and tannins.

After a vatting period of 15 to 20 days, the wine is aged for 9 months, partly in Burgundy barrels (15-20% of which are new) and partly in vats, to preserve the purity and fruitiness of the Pinot Noir.

On tasting, this Bourgogne Pinot Noir reveals charming aromas of crisp red fruits, such as cherry and raspberry, accompanied by subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it offers a silky texture, delicate tannins and a fine balance between freshness and deliciousness. Its elegant, harmonious finish makes it an ideal companion for a multitude of food and wine pairings.

This wine can be enjoyed now for its bright fruitiness, but can also be kept for up to 3 years to develop further complexity. It is the perfect accompaniment to roast poultry, grilled red meats and mild cheeses.
