Solessence Rosé Extra Brut from the JM Sélèque estate is a must-have cuvée that expresses all the diversity and elegance of Champagne's terroirs. True to his quest for perfect balance and authentic expression, Jean-Marc Sélèque carefully blends grapes from six prestigious communes - including Pierry, Moussy, Épernay, Mardeuil, Dizy, Boursault and Vertus - grown on flinty clay soils on a chalk subsoil. The Chardonnay grape accounts for around half of the blend, offering a full, fruity maturity, while the Pinot meunier (40%) is partly vinified as a rosé de saignée, and the Pinot noir (10%) brings greedy nuances of small red fruits.
After two years' ageing on the lees in the estate's cellars, and disgorged in January 2024, this rosé champagne reveals a subtle aromatic palette: notes of rose, hawthorn, nettle, tarragon and sage combine with wild strawberry, blackberry and a milky touch reminiscent of almond milk and citrus-flavoured cream. The full-bodied, dynamic palate is enhanced by fine bubbles and precise tension, derived from the limestone, giving the finish an amazingly long, fresh and tangy finish, enhanced by a zest of grapefruit. A true rarity, best enjoyed after two years in the cellar, this cuvée embodies the quintessence of Champagne's art.
Domaine JM Sélèque, a young Champagne prodigy, has already established itself as a benchmark to be reckoned with. Managed by the talented Jean-Marc Sélèque, this family estate combines tradition and innovation to create auteur champagnes with expressive aromas and remarkable purity. Its cuvées, made from exceptional terroirs and rigorous know-how, are seductive in their complexity, finesse and capacity to evolve, reflecting the authentic soul of Champagne.
