The Pierre Girardin estate, founded by Pierre-Vincent in 2017 in Meursault, is based on 6 hectares of vines in the Jura region, divided between Chardonnay and Savagnin grape varieties. Its ‘Le Châtaignier’ plot " (Savagnin, 1959, west-facing) produces an elegant and powerful French white wine, aged for 12 months in 456-litre barrels (30% new barrels), then 8 months in stainless steel vats, without filtration. An aromatic, harmonious Savagnin with character.
Domaine Pierre Girardin embodies the expertise of Pierre-Vincent, representative of the 13th generation, in the heart of Meursault. His wines express themselves with precision: the Savagnin from the ‘Le Châtaignier’ vineyard, grown on a 1959 vineyard facing west on Jurassic limestone soils with Lias marl, reflects all the uniqueness of this terroir.
The grapes are harvested by hand, in whole bunches to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The cuvée undergoes a long maceration and 12 months of ageing in 456-litre oak barrels (30% of which are new), without filtration, followed by 8 months in stainless steel vats to enhance the aromatic purity. This choice of vinification offers a subtle balance between richness, tension and mineral expression.
The nose seduces with its floral and mineral notes, with an aromatic intensity rarely found in non-Burgundy whites. On the palate, the structure is full and round, with a beautiful freshness that gives it a racy elegance. This complete wine seduces with its depth and energy, reflecting Pierre-Vincent's expertise.
This cuvée is ideal for lovers of atypical white wines, off the beaten track, who know how to combine Burgundian tradition with Jura audacity.
