Domaine Pierre Girardin's Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru ‘Clos de la Maltroie’ comes from a vineyard in the heart of Burgundy's Côte de Beaune region. This 1er Cru, planted exclusively with Chardonnay, benefits from a clay-limestone soil that gives the wine its distinctive character and elegance. The vines, which are several decades old, are cultivated using environmentally-friendly practices, guaranteeing an authentic expression of the terroir.

Vinification is carried out with particular care: after manual harvesting and rigorous sorting, the grapes are gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, a proportion of which is renewed each year to bring aromatic complexity without overpowering the fruit. Ageing on fine lees for around 12 months refines the wine's structure and enriches its aromatic palette.

On tasting, this Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru ‘Clos de la Maltroie’ reveals a golden colour with luminous highlights. The nose is complex and expressive, combining aromas of white-fleshed fruit such as pear and apple, floral notes such as acacia, and a subtle mineral touch. On the palate, the attack is lively and fresh, developing into a full-bodied wine. The texture is silky, underpinned by well-integrated acidity that adds length and precision. The finish is persistent, marked by mineral notes and a slight salinity, the signature of the Maltroie terroir.

The domain

Pierre-Vincent Girardin is a very promising winemaker located in the commune of Meursault as he vinified his first vintage in 2017. He comes from a family of winemakers and runs a 4.5 hectare vineyard.
