Domaine Fourrier's Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru ‘Combe aux Moines’ comes from an 87-acre parcel planted in 1928 on the northern edge of Gevrey-Chambertin, adjacent to the Fixin appellation. Perched at an altitude of 300 metres, the Pinot Noir vines produce a straightforward, racy wine, matured in Burgundy casks for around 18 months. On the palate, it offers fine finesse despite its marked natural acidity, promising long cellaring. An exceptional cru that reflects the purity and depth of Burgundy's great terroirs.

Domaine Fourrier's Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru ‘Combe aux Moines’ comes from an historic 87-acre parcel, planted in 1928, on the northern slopes of Gevrey-Chambertin, on the border with the Fixin appellation. Nestling at an altitude of 300 metres, the old Pinot Noir vines benefit from a unique terroir, giving the wine a straightforward, racy expression.
Maturing in Burgundy barrels for around 18 months adds further complexity. On tasting, the nose reveals deep aromas of very fresh black fruit, white pepper, Madagascar vanilla and Russian leather, all in perfect harmony. On the palate, the wine is seductive in its finesse, underpinned by the natural acidity characteristic of Combe aux Moines, offering a balanced structure and fine length. This long-ageing cru needs a few more years to reveal its full potential, and will be fully appreciated between 2024 and 2040. A real gem for lovers of great Burgundy wines.
