Morey-Saint-Denis ‘Pierre Virant’ from the Messager-Germain family is a red wine made from 45-year-old Pinot Noir vines located on the ‘Pierre Virant’ parcel. This vineyard lies on compact Bathonian limestone soil, benefiting from a unique microclimate due to its position on the edge of the cliff at an altitude of 270 metres. Hand-picking took place on 16 September 2023, with production limited to 900 bottles and 15 magnums. Vinification included 30% whole grapes, pre-fermentation maceration at 8°C for 7 days, medium extraction with 4 punchings of the cap and gentle pumping over. Ageing for 12 months in oak barrels, 30% of which are new, without filtration, gives this wine an elegant structure and remarkable ageing potential.

Morey-Saint-Denis ‘Pierre Virant’ from the Messager-Germain family is a refined expression of Burgundy terroir. The ‘Pierre Virant’ parcel, situated at the top of the hill at an altitude of 270 metres and on the edge of a cliff, benefits from a special microclimate and compact limestone soil from the Bathonian period. The 45-year-old Pinot Noir vines draw their unique richness and aromatic complexity from this soil.
Hand-picked on 16 September 2023 from an area of 0.1372 hectares, the confidential production of 900 bottles and 15 magnums reflects the attention paid to each bunch. The vinification process, which respects the fruit, includes 30% whole grapes, followed by pre-fermentation maceration at 8°C for 7 days. Extraction is controlled with 4 punchings of the cap and gentle pumping over to preserve the finesse of the tannins. Ageing for 12 months in oak barrels, 30% of which are new, without filtering, gives the wine an elegant structure and considerable ageing potential.
On the palate, this Morey-Saint-Denis stands out for its freshness and aromas of small, ripe red fruits, underpinned by a fine tension, offering a harmonious balance between deliciousness and length.
