Domaine Bruno Colin's Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru ‘Les Chaumées’ is a white Burgundy wine that embodies the quintessence of Chardonnay. From a 0.42 hectare parcel on the outskirts of Saint-Aubin, above the 1er Cru ‘Les Vergers’, this vineyard benefits from clay-limestone soil ideal for producing exceptional wines. The vines, planted in 1956, 1988 and 2003, are cultivated organically, with mechanical tillage and regular ploughing.

The grapes are harvested by hand and rigorously sorted in the vineyard to ensure optimum quality. The wine is matured for 12 months in 350-litre oak barrels, 15-20% of which are new, followed by 4-6 months in vats before bottling. This process gives the wine aromatic complexity and balanced structure.

On tasting, this Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru ‘Les Chaumées’ reveals a pure, brilliant colour. The nose is highly aromatic, marked by delicate floral notes and clean, straightforward citrus aromas. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and lively, offering a fine tension between freshness and richness. The finish is characterised by a pleasant salinity, the signature of the great terroirs of Chassagne-Montrachet.

This elegant, expressive wine goes perfectly with refined dishes such as seafood, fish in sauce or poultry in cream sauce. It can be enjoyed now to appreciate its liveliness, or kept for a few years to further develop its aromatic complexity.
