Description
The Santenay 1er Cru Les Gravières from Domaine Bruno Colin comes from a plot located below the Comme and Beauregard vineyards, on a terroir renowned for the quality of its Pinot Noir. Its name, derived from the Latin *grava*, refers to sandy, gravelly soil that encourages the vines to develop deep roots.
Planted in 1988 on clay-limestone soils, the vines are cultivated organically using mechanical soil cultivation and plowing. The grapes are harvested by hand and then carefully sorted to retain only the finest berries. Winemaking emphasizes gentle extraction and a vatting period of about fifteen days, with minimal intervention to respect the expression of the terroir.
Aging takes place for twelve months in 350-liter barrels, approximately 25% of which are new oak, followed by several months of aging in tanks.
On the palate, Les Gravières captivates with an intense nose of ripe black fruit, spices, and slightly smoky notes. The palate is full-bodied, straightforward, and dynamic, supported by silky tannins and lovely freshness. A Santenay 1er Cru with a bold character, elegant and possessing solid aging potential.

The estate has 9 hectares of vines - 3 hectares of reds (100% Pinot Noir) and 6 hectares of whites (96% Chardonnay, 4% Aligoté). The estate offers 22 appellations, including 14 Premiers Crus and 2 Grands Crus, reflecting the pure expression of Burgundy terroirs through meticulous viticulture and controlled ageing.
