Les Abeilles from the Pierre Girardin estate is a 100% Chardonnay Vin de France produced from a south-facing plot planted in 1959. The soil is poor Jurassic soil, and the grapes are harvested by hand as whole bunches. Aged for 12 months in 456-litre oak barrels (100% new) then 8 months in stainless steel vats. The result: a rich, concentrated, powerful wine that reflects the ancestral terroir.

Description
Pierre-Vincent Girardin's Les Abeilles cuvée is a striking expression of Jura Chardonnay. The vines are a hundred years old (planted in 1959) and selected from massal selection, planted on poor Bajocian limestone soil. The south-facing exposure guarantees maturity and depth, despite the demanding drainage conditions of the soil.
The vinification process respects the requirement for purity: manual harvesting, whole grapes, fermentation of whole bunches to preserve the identity of the fruit. The wine is aged for 12 months in 456-litre oak barrels (100% new), followed by 8 months in stainless steel vats, giving the wine complexity, energy and richness. No filtration is used, highlighting the noble substance and structural balance.
Les Abeilles seduces with its remarkable concentration, lush on the palate, with a long and enveloping finish. The power of the terroir is fully felt in every sip, while retaining the elegant and precise style that is the signature of the Girardin estate.
Perfect at 11–12°C, this intense Chardonnay pairs harmoniously with creamy mushroom risotto, seafood in sauce, or vegetable tempura. In terms of ageing, the wine can be stored for 8 to 12 years, evolving towards notes of honey, toasted almonds and sweet spices.

Domaine Pierre Girardin
Pierre-Vincent Girardin is a very promising winemaker located in the commune of Meursault as he vinified his first vintage in 2017. He comes from a family of winemakers and runs a 4.5 hectare vineyard.
