Description
A true signature of the René Rostaing estate, the Côte-Rôtie ‘Ampodium’ is a blend of several parcels located on the appellation's historic terroirs, spread between the Côte Blonde and the Côte Brune. These vines, planted on predominantly schist soils, allow the Syrah to express all the finesse and complexity characteristic of Côte-Rôtie.
Managed with controlled yields, the vineyard is worked with rigour in order to preserve the identity of each terroir. The grapes are harvested at optimal maturity, then vinified with precision, respecting the fruit. Ageing in oak barrels, some of which are new and perfectly integrated, brings structure and depth without masking the aromatic expression.
On tasting, Côte-Rôtie Ampodium reveals an intense nose combining black fruits, violet, pepper and slightly smoky notes. The palate is elegant, balanced and silky, carried by fine tannins and beautiful freshness. This great wine from the Rhône Valley offers excellent ageing potential while remaining accessible after a few years in the cellar, making this cuvée a benchmark for lovers of signature Côte-Rôtie wines.
