Description

The Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru “Les Charrières” from Domaine Lécheneaut comes from a small plot of 2.5 acres, located at an altitude of around 250 meters on a hillside facing east. The Pinot Noir vines, with an average age of 20 years, grow on complex terroir composed of limestone and clay-limestone soils from the Middle Jurassic period. At the top of the hillside, white Bathonian oolite brings finesse and tension, while at the bottom of the slope, Bajocian limestone with entrochs reinforces the structure and depth of the wine.

The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand in order to preserve their integrity and ensure rigorous selection. Production is extremely limited, with around 600 bottles per vintage, making this cuvée highly sought-after by lovers of great Burgundy wines.

On tasting, the intense carmine color with violet highlights heralds a wine of beautiful concentration. The nose, typical of Pinot Noir from Morey-Saint-Denis, opens with aromas of red and black fruits, cherry and blackcurrant in the foreground, before evolving towards more complex notes of fruit brandy and delicate floral touches. The palate is straightforward, racy and perfectly defined, carried by fine, elegant tannins without any harshness. The whole offers good length and a remarkable balance between power and finesse.

This Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru “Les Charrières” can be enjoyed after a few years of aging or at maturity, when it reveals all the complexity and nobility of its terroir. A confidential cuvée, ideal for lovers of precise and refined Pinot Noir.
