The Nuits-Saint-Georges from Domaine Lécheneaut perfectly embodies the authentic and distinguished character of this iconic Côte de Nuits appellation. This cuvée is a blend of several carefully selected parcels: Les Damodes, Les Saint-Jacques, Les Herbues, Les Tuyaux, Les Belles Croix, Les Charmois, and Les Chaliots. This diversity of climats allows for the creation of a complete wine that is powerful, structured, and balanced.
The vineyard covers a total area of 34 hectares, planted exclusively with Pinot Noir. The average age of the vines, around 50 years, guarantees beautiful concentration and a faithful expression of the terroir. The grapes are harvested manually, in accordance with Burgundian tradition, in order to preserve their quality. Annual production remains controlled, at around 7,500 bottles.
The terroirs are distinguished by their geographical location to the north and south of the appellation. In the northern part of Nuits-Saint-Georges, the soils are composed of gravelly silt resulting from the erosion of the Côte and alluvial deposits from the Meuzin valley, bringing finesse and elegance. Further south, the plots are planted on deep marl-limestone silt from the Combe des Vallerots, giving the wine power and structure.
On tasting, the Nuits-Saint-Georges from Domaine Lécheneaut displays an intense purple color with occasional mauve highlights. The nose opens with aromas of rose and licorice, complemented in its youth by notes of cherry, strawberry, and blackcurrant. With time, the bouquet gains complexity, revealing nuances of leather, truffle, fur, and game. The palate is vigorous, full-bodied, and chewy, supported by a robust structure and a long finish. A great wine for aging, sensual and racy, which reveals its full depth after a few years in the cellar.
