Description

The Clos de la Roche Grand Cru from Domaine Lécheneaut comes from a small, exclusive plot located in the prestigious Monts Luisants area, in the heart of the Morey-Saint-Denis appellation. This vineyard is planted on one of Burgundy's most limestone-rich terroirs, with barely 30 centimeters of soil, sparse gravel and numerous exposed rock outcrops, characteristics that have given this iconic Grand Cru its name. The vines are planted directly on ostrea marl, enriched by limestone scree from Premeaux limestone on the upper part, while entroque limestone appears at the bottom of the hillside.

The Pinot Noir, from vines averaging 60 years of age, is harvested exclusively by hand in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir. The deliberately very limited production, around 500 bottles per year, gives this cuvée a rare character that is sought after by lovers of great Burgundy wines.

On tasting, the Clos de la Roche from Domaine Lécheneaut stands out with its deep, intense color. The nose reveals a complex aromatic palette combining ripe black fruits, noble spices such as pepper, cinnamon, and cloves, as well as pronounced mineral notes. On the palate, the wine displays an athletic and spirited structure, carried by perfectly controlled acidity and impressive tannic richness, without ever sacrificing finesse.

A wine with exceptional aging potential, this Grand Cru develops additional depth and remarkable retro-olfaction over time, offering a persistent and distinguished finish.
