Description

Domaine Bruno Colin’s Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes Rouge comes from two plots located in the Bouchon de Corvée and Les Houillères vineyards, in the heart of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation. Grown on clay-limestone soils, the Pinot Noir vines, planted in 1972 and 1979, yield concentrated and balanced grapes.

Cultivated using organic farming methods, the vineyard benefits from mechanical soil cultivation and plowing that promote a precise expression of the terroir. Harvesting is done by hand with rigorous sorting in the vineyard and then on a vibrating table. Depending on the vintage, destemming varies to best preserve the fruit’s identity and the wine’s balance.

After a fermentation period of about fifteen days with minimal intervention, aging continues for twelve months in 350-liter barrels, approximately 25% of which are new oak, before finishing in tanks.

On the palate, this red Chassagne-Montrachet reveals generous aromas of ripe red fruit, cherry, and sweet spices. The palate is full-bodied, concentrated, and silky, supported by fine tannins and a lovely length. A Pinot Noir with character, elegant and built to age for several years.
