"Salvatore' is named after Nicolo's grandfather, and it's clear that a lot of love has gone into this wine, which is made from 100% Sicilian Nero d'Avola grapes.
On tasting, the aromas are extremely flattering and welcoming, with notes of black berries, prunes and oak. The texture is velvety and creamy, with fine tannins and fantastic length that lingers for a very long time. An incredibly impressive red wine with lots of personality that is guaranteed to age for at least a decade.
A fine wine that reflects both the Sicilian terroir and Niccolo Grippaldi's personality. We recommend aging this bottle for 5 years in your cellar to allow it to express its full potential.
The domain
Domaine Nicolo Grippaldi
Nicolo Grippaldi is Etna's newest and brightest wine star. The young winemaker owns 2.63 hectares of vines, which he planted in 2015 with the local Sicilian grape varieties Nero d'Avola and Nerello Mascalese. His vineyard is located in the small village of Gagliano Castelferrato, at the foot of Mount Etna, where the viges are 651 metres above sea level to the south-east. Nicolo is a man who wants to express the terroir in his wines, so he works 100% biodynamically in both vineyard and cellar.
Its elegant, pure and authentic wines have already caused a sensation on the gastronomic scene, where they can be found in Michelin 3-star restaurants such as Enrico Bartolini in Milan and Le Mirazur in Menton in the south of France. The latter was voted best restaurant in the world in 2019 and 2020.
