Domaine Fernand & Laurent Pillot's Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru “Les Vergers” is an exceptional white wine, a faithful reflection of its Burgundian terroir. From a 91-acre parcel planted between 1955 and 1984, this Chardonnay flourishes on very stony, shallow soil, where limestone rock outcrops, creating a warm microclimate conducive to optimal grape ripening.
Hand-picked grapes precede careful vinification: fermentation in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new, followed by 11 to 12 months of ageing. This process gives the wine a harmonious structure and remarkable aromatic complexity.
On tasting, this Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru reveals a pale yellow color and an expressive nose combining citrus fruit, white flowers and a subtle woody touch. The palate is both ample and precise, offering a beautiful minerality and a long finish. This elegant wine reaches its peak between 3 and 10 years of age, and pairs perfectly with fish in sauce or white meats.
