This red Beaune from the Fernand & Laurent Pillot estate comes from a plot ideally located on the southern slope of the appellation, adjacent to Pommard 1er Cru. The Pinot Noir expresses all its nobility through an intense garnet colour, a nose of black fruits and spices, and a full-bodied and structured palate. Aged for 18 months in barrels (35% new), this elegant wine perfectly embodies the style of the great reds of Beaune.
The Beaune red from the Fernand & Laurent Pillot estate comes from a single 46-acre plot planted in 1966 and 1996, ideally located on the southern heights of the appellation. Overlooking the town of Beaune, its famous Hospices and the Notre-Dame basilica, this vineyard benefits from a warm, early-ripening, stony terroir on the edge of the prestigious Pommard 1er Cru ‘Boucherottes’.
Pinot Noir reveals its full potential here. Harvested by hand, the grapes are destemmed and then vinified traditionally: cold maceration, natural fermentation, regular punching down, and strict temperature control. Ageing in French oak barrels, 35% of which are new, lasts 18 months to refine the wine.
The result is an elegant wine with a deep garnet colour. The nose seduces with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and toasted and slightly spicy notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied with silky tannins and a lingering finish.
This Beaune combines intensity, finesse and complexity. It can be enjoyed between 5 and 12 years and is a wonderful accompaniment to roast meats, duck breast or mature cheese. Serve at 15–16°C.
