Domaine Fernand & Laurent Pillot's Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru “Grandes Ruchottes” is an exceptional white wine from a 37-acre parcel planted in 1973 on the heights of Chassagne-Montrachet. This climat, ranked among the appellation's finest Premiers Crus, benefits from a unique terroir: a steep slope, a limestone subsoil and ideal exposure.
The Chardonnay grapes are harvested by hand, then gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new, followed by 15 months of ageing. This process gives the wine a remarkable aromatic complexity, combining notes of white flowers, dried fruit and honey.
On the palate, this Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru stands out for its richness, balance and subtle minerality. It reaches its fullness after 4 to 5 years of cellaring, offering an optimal expression of its terroir. It can easily be kept for 4 to 12 years, or even longer in great vintages.
Domaine Fernand & Laurent Pillot, established in Chassagne-Montrachet since the 17th century, embodies the excellence of Burgundy wines.
