Domaine Fernand & Laurent Pillot's Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru “Morgeot” is a benchmark among Burgundy's great white wines. Produced from two parcels located in the Morgeot-Boudriottes and Morgeot-Petit-Clos climats, this wine comes from Chardonnay vines planted between 1954 and 1986 and pruned in Guyot simple. These terroirs, characterized by shallow limestone soils, give the wine remarkable structure and complexity.
The grapes are hand-picked, then gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new, followed by ageing on fine lees for 11 to 12 months. This meticulous process allows the wine to develop a full, generous mouthfeel, with concentrated aromas of citrus, vanilla and white fruits, and a delicately woody finish.
On tasting, this Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru “Morgeot” seduces with its aromatic richness and elegant minerality. It is an ideal accompaniment to dishes such as noble fish, seafood or poultry in cream sauce. Served at 14°C, it can be enjoyed now or after 3 to 10 years' cellaring, during which it will reach its peak.
