Domaine Fernand & Laurent Pillot's Meursault 1er Cru “Les Caillerets” is an exceptional cuvée made from 34 ares of Guyot simple-pruned Chardonnay vines planted in 1983 and 1997. Located at the top of the village of Meursault, in the direction of Volnay, the plot lies on very stony red soil, favoring early ripening of the grapes, particularly in hot years.
The grapes are harvested by hand, then gently pressed. The must ferments in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new, followed by 15 months' ageing in this noble wood. This process allows the wine to develop its personality and aromatic complexity.
On tasting, this Meursault 1er Cru reveals an ample nose, blending aromas of white flowers, exotic fruit and toast, with a light mineral touch. The palate is velvety and balanced, with good length and remarkable elegance.
This wine keeps well, reaching its peak between 3 and 10 years, or even longer in great vintages. It goes perfectly with fish in sauce, white meats in cream sauce and mature cheeses. Enjoy at a temperature of 14°C.
