Description

Ullens “L.P.M. – La Petite Montagne” Champagne is an iconic cuvée from Domaine de Marzilly, owned by Maxime Ullens in the heart of the Saint-Thierry Massif. Its name pays homage to the historic former name of this region of Champagne, once known as “La Petite Montagne de Reims,” as well as to the Meunier grape variety, which forms the soul of this cuvée.

Made exclusively from Meunier grapes sourced from the northern terroirs of the Massif de Saint-Thierry, this champagne authentically expresses the unique character of this still-undiscovered region. The grapes are pressed using a traditional 4,000-kg Coquard press before being vinified and then aged for at least eleven months on fine lees in oak barrels. After bottling, the wine is aged for eighteen months in the cellar, complemented by entirely manual racking and riddling. No fining or filtration is performed in order to preserve the wine’s integrity.

On the palate, “L.P.M.” reveals a profile that is at once precise, energetic, and deep. Aromas of white fruit, ripe citrus, and delicate flowers mingle with brioche-like and slightly spicy notes derived from oak aging. On the palate, it combines tension, texture, and freshness, supported by a subtle minerality and an Extra Brut dosage of just 2.5 g/l.

Produced in a limited run of just 6,720 bottles and 190 magnums, this exclusive cuvée elegantly embodies the rebirth of the great terroirs of the Petite Montagne and the expertise of Domaine de Marzilly.

Domaine de Marzilly is an independent winery located in the Massif de Saint-Thierry, northwest of Reims. Founded in 2012 by Maxime Ullens, it was born out of the restoration of a 12th-century château surrounded by historic vineyards. Growing primarily Meunier on the sandy soils of Hermonville, the estate produces Champagnes that are terroir-driven, elegant, and deeply influenced by their origin.
