A refined Volnay, both delicate and structured.
The Volnay 1er Cru “Les Brouillards” from Domaine Fernand & Laurent Pillot comes from a plot situated on the appellation’s higher elevations, benefiting from an ideal east to southeast exposure. This breezy, sunny terroir promotes slow ripening of the Pinot Noir, ensuring finesse and precision.
The naturally well-drained clay-limestone soils limit the vines’ vigor and allow for optimal concentration in the grapes. The vines, averaging about 45 years old, provide a remarkable balance between freshness and complexity.
Vinified from whole clusters, this Volnay develops a delicate bouquet of cherry, raspberry, and floral notes. On the palate, the texture is silky and elegant, carried by a lovely energy and a refined structure. The long, harmonious finish highlights the nobility of the terroir.
This Premier Cru is best enjoyed after a few years of aging and reveals its full complexity between 5 and 12 years. A distinguished wine, true to the subtle style of the great Volnays.
